Located in the Square on a main avenue in a busy Paphos suburb. Yeroskipou joined the antiquity in the wider cult of Paphian Venus, as an extension of the great temple of the goddess in Palepaphos. In this area there are also the famous “Holy Gardens” of Venus, a name preserved to this day in the name Yeroskipou (“Ierokipia”') . From these gardens, according to the ancient Greek geographer Strabo, passed the procession of the faithful which ended in Palepaphos , on the occasion of the celebration of “Venereal”, the annual festival in honor of the goddess .
The most important monument of Yeroskipou is the Byzantine church of Agia Paraskevi (9th c.), A vaulted royal ancient church, placed by five domes. The frescoes which adorn the interior of the church is the most important Byzantine frescoes of Cyprus. Great interest is a carved Hylates Sanctuary of Apollo , the only of its kind in Cyprus , dating from at least the 5th century BC.
The historic '' home Hadjismith '' , is an excellent example of traditional architecture , and it houses the Folk Art Museum since 1978 . In the museum is exposed a large collection of objects, connected with the daily life, the various occupations and professions, and with the various expressions of popular art in Cyprus from the 19th and the first decades of the 20th century and finally it is also the Byzantine Museum of the Holy Metropolis Paphos.
Yeroskipou is in the east of Paphos Cyprus , and it expands in an area of more than 10 sq. Km . It has a population of over 8000 people.
The historic center of Yeroskipou lies 4 kilometers east of the town of Paphos. Yeroskipou has an excellent road connection. On its northern border it is the highway which connects Paphos to the other cities of Cyprus, while at a distance of 10 kilometers from it, is The Paphos International Airport.
